About

Welcome to Outlander Anatomy! A blog that teaches human anatomy through the lens of the Outlander book series by Diana Gabaldon and the Outlander Starz Television Series.

I have been a professor of gross and microscopic human anatomy for nearly four decades in the U.S. and taught the topic to nearly 10,000 medical students. I love books that refer to my profession and to teach others about the amazing human body. What fun it is to combine my passions. I hope you have fun, too!

A couple wee disclaimers:

I follow the convention of using the Outlander character’s names and images from the Starz series giving the cast at least one degree of separation and a wee bit of respect as I dissect the character’s bodies with words.

I am not affiliated with Starz and images posted do not belong to me. If they are from the show, they belong to Starz. I will do my very best to give credit where it’s due. If you see an image that needs credit or belongs to you, please let me know and I will correct any errors or remove it from the post.

I’ll be sure to tag any spoilers with #outlanderspoiler and if there’s anything anatomical that may be controversial for some, I’ll be sure to give fair warning!

Enjoy yerselves!

A deeply grateful,

Outlander Anatomist
